This stunning medieval symbolic style chess set is an aversion of an ancient German chess set. It is similar in style to the Isle of Lewis Chess Set (which we also carry in our symbolic chess range).
The reverse side of the King’s throne shows warriors; the Queen’s throne ladies in waiting; and the Bishop’s throne holy men & musicians.
The Rook shows the beginnings of the introduction of the castle into early European chess.

The sizes of the pieces are:

• Queen 8.5cm – Base 4cm
• Bishop 8.5cm – Base 3.5cm
• Knight 9cm – Base 4.5cm
• Rook 7.5cm – Base 2.5cm
